Preconstruction
While Project Services develops the brief into design specifications, the Cost Consultants develop the cost plan using the computerised ‘Journal’ system of budget cost control. BWA introduced the pro-active Journal system in 1969, leading the way in the development of cost control methodology – not just in the UK, but worldwide.
Working closely with the client’s design team and the project manager, the Cost Consultants develop the cost plan within the pre-agreed budget, always ensuring that there is no overspend. Value engineering of all key design decisions is a way of life – BWA do not charge extra fees for helping clients to get value for money.
Finally, the Quantity Surveyors write the specification (or bills of quantities if that is what the project needs) and manage the tender and tender-reporting stages. BWA are very much at home with non-traditional contract procedures such as construction management, fee management and design/build; clients value our view as to the most appropriate route (and tender list) for each project.
